God's true love

Updated: Oct 4, 2020

I love you. You know I love you. Much love. Those are some of the many phrases we use to express our love for others. John 3:16 says, "For God so loved the world that you gave his only son." God expressed his love. But, notice his love was not expressed by words or phrases. His love was expressed by action. He gave.

Notice also what he gave -- His only son. That tells me that love is an action word. It is an action that sometimes can be sacrificial because it requires that we give. When you give even without the guarantee of reciprocation, it can sometimes will make us you question how committed is your love. How much are you willing to sacrifice? My question is, can you express your love in same way God did? A love that was so strong that He gave his only son to save you and me.

His love was a protective love. He expressed it to protect us from the eternal fires of hell. What a love! When there comes a time when I need to express my love in action. A sacrificial love. A protective love, can I do it? Will I do it? What about you? The goal for all of us is to grow in love. As God showers us with His everlasting love, let's being willing to not only let His love flow to us, but flow from us to others who need it whether they can repay it back or not. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son is a wonderful example of true love. Let's follow His lead.

For your daily dose, I sharing these scriptures to strengthen you.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begottenSon, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

Amen Bro. Shelton! Love is an action word. God demonstrates his Love daily towards us and as his children, we should imitate this love daily. Beautiful words of encouragement.
